If you're looking for a small player that's easy to take with you and still provides you with a superb sound quality than this is really the player for you! The small AAA battery will last for about 8 to 10 houres with this player.
The only bad things that I could find about this player was it's slow data transfer, the fact that the backlight of the LCD screen only works 3 seconds and it's price of $150 which is a little bit too much for a player with only 64MB Ram in my opinion. |
And you can read it here

The sound quality of this player was very good, better than most other players I've listened to. The included headphones gave a warm and good bass quality which I really liked about this player. Unfortunately you can't manualy adjust the treble and bass trough the menu but it has a few presets.. _________________ DarkVision Hardware

I got myself this player and so far I'm impressed by the sound that I here....but why the hell is the damn thing keep rejecting the SMC cards... It's so weird, the SMC card works perfectely the first time., transffered and played...then it just stoppped working. On the player it says "Invalid corrupt SMC card". But after the Error screen. It displays that it has the externel memory card inside and the amount og MB that I have installed..
If I try to format the card (through the freecom software) I can transfer files. After I shut the damn thing of...it displays the same freakin' error (invalid or corrupt...)
I've tried 2 different SMC cards and they react the same. I haven't been able to test the cards elsewhere, cause I don't have anything that goes on SMC. I think it f***ed my SMC cards somehow...
Have you experienced this problem before...? Personally I think it's just a damn ulgy bug in the pre programmed software installed in the player..... |

Dude, i had the same probs as you, and like you suggest, i think it is a bug in the software.
If you check the freecom site www.freecom.com and fill in the registration you can then go to the support section and download the new version od software, called digital audio manager 2, but that upgrades the software fro V1.2 to V1.3.
Seems to work so far, but if it starts to play up again (i havnt had time to really test it yet) i will RMA it to freecom, and DEMAND that the SMC card feature work, or get a refund.
I dont wanna do that, cus its a good little player for the money.

Hi,
I haven't tested it with SmartMedia cards because I didn't have SmartMedia cards when I tested the player. And I will not be able to test it because the player is returned back to Freecom.. _________________ DarkVision Hardware

Took me a while to get round to RMA-ing it, but i posted it on a wednesday afternoon, got it back on Monday afternoon.
Just to let y'all know, you only return the player( Keep the earphones and DONT leave your media card in!!) and you get a full retail pack back
Not really had much time to test it, but it all seems good so far, so p'raps Freecom aint so bad as i have been hearing. True, the first unit was faulty, but 10 outta 10 for their support and speady replacement.
